SlaveFree Today

WHAT IT IS: SlaveFree Today is a mobile-responsive website that allows users to easily access the Journal of Modern Slavery and other free resources on the website, www.SlaveFreeToday.org.

CLIENT: SlaveFree Today was a client project during my time in the UX Design Immersive at General Assembly. SlaveFree Today is a non-profit organization on a mission to end human trafficking and modern slavery across the world. They do this by publishing the Journal of Modern Slavery, as well as providing the highest quality field information and resources for people eon the front lines of this fight.

WHO IT’S FOR: Students, academics/scholars, government/NGO workers & policy-makers globally who are in need of timely and reputable research and information on human trafficking around the world.

GOAL: Redesign their website to be mobile-responsive and user-friendly, in order to increase amount of accounts created and ability for users to utilize the resources on the site.

MY ROLE: Lead UX (team of 6): Research, Define Information Architecture, Wireframe, Prototype, User Test, Branding, High-Fidelity Design

 

We began with a heuristic analysis using the criteria below to asses the current state of www.SlaveFreeToday.org:

We then performed a comparative and competitive analysis amongst other scholarly journal websites, since the Journal of Modern slavery was the client’s main product.

After conducting the C&C analysis, we knew what the key features we needed to include were for our MVP.

We then conducted a series of interviews with a wide variety of users. From authors for the Journal, to board members of the organization, we were able to gain a great deal of insight from these interviews.
